I have around 60 rose bushes, mostly in a devoted rose bed though there are roses scattered through every border. I'm in the process of revising and revamping my mixed herbaceous borders, hoping to achieve an informal cottage garden effect. I adore colour, and unusual varieties of popular plants. If it will grow on my clay, slightly alkaline soil, half a mile from the sea, I'll give it a go!
I'm not able to offer swaps at this time, but should have some poppies and irises to swap in the future. (Pink Mecanopsis and apricot bearded iris.) I'd be interested in any perennials, but especially papaver poppies. (Really, really want Turkenlouis to replace the ones I lost to weather.) Meanwhile I hope to chat to other gardeners about perennials and mixed herbaceous borders care.
