I work for the charity Thrive, who are supported by Green Plant Swap members (thank you!!). Currently I'm working as a freelance Horticultural Therapist and also as a research Officer (part of the training and education team). My background is in academia, science research and IT, but during my career I got interested in how people and teams interact, which lead to an MA in Coaching and Mentoring Practice, looking in particular at how adult change and development can be influenced by environment and physical activity. That led on to an interest in eco-psychology and working in children's experiential learning (historical enactment and forest school) before finally coming to Thrive. I'm also a basket maker/ willow worker and interested in herbs - I always claim to come to gardening from an engineering perspective - I like plants that you can do things with and the engineering bits of gardening like setting up composting and automatic watering systems!
- Benefits of gardening (Green therapy, ecopsychology and social and therapeutic horticulture)
- herbs, edible flowers and other plants that are useful as well as beautiful
