Lewisia cotyledon. This species produces an evergreen rosette of succulent foliage. The plants can be difficult to grow, but are well worth the challenge, they produce beautiful flowers with a rosette-forming habit. The flowers are pink to purple. Grow in semi-shade with well drained, humus-rich, neutral to acidic soil. They are suitable alpine houses, rock gardens, containers and greenhouses. The evergreen perennial has flat rosettes of spoon-shaped or inversely lance-shaped, dark green leaves. From spring to summer it produces compact panicles of many open funnel-shaped, paler and darker striped, usually pinkish purple, sometimes white, cream, yellow or apricot.
Grow them in a cool climate with full sun or partial-shade in warm climates with excellent drainage, You can propagate herbaceous species from seed in spring or autumn, and evergreen species from seed in spring or offsets in summer.
