Eranthis hyemalis

For sale by Rachel the Gardener

This grower is sure of this plant identification.

Fabulous ground cover: shiny cheerful yellow flowers held above ruffs of bright green leaves, just a couple of inches above the ground, in the very depths of winter.

One of the best early winter flowers. Once established, will spread happily to make carpets of colour.

PLEASE NOTE this will only be for sale in winter, once they are actively growing: it is never a good idea to buy this plant when it is dormant.

Grower Notes

Plants are pot-grown, strong and hardy with good roots: they will be de-potted for sale and posted bare-rooted, so please unpack them immediately on arrival, and plant them out as soon as you can.

Postage is £2, UK only, payment by Paypal, please. Contact me with your Paypal account, and I will invoice you. Don't leave it too long, I only have a few pots of this lovely little plant for sale!

Ideal for woodland settings, or underplanting a shrub border or specimen tree: allow to die down until quite brown, then rake off the foliage, allowing the seed a chance to fall to the ground, thus increasing the colony.

IGNORE the comment on the plant listing about it being poisonous and allergenic: that comment belongs to Common Aconite, Aconitum (Monkshood, Wolfsbane) the tall summer flower. This plant is NOT an Aconite, and although I would not eat it, is NOT poisonous! The common name of Winter Aconite relates to the shape - just the shape - of the leaves.
