Magnolia grandiflora (Evergreen magnolia). This is a beautiful tree it will form a dense 18m dome of deep green leathery leaves with a rusty-coloured underneath. The flowers are cup-shaped with white or cream blooms they are about 25cm across and will appear during late summer, they are followed by reddish brown cones, they will need plenty of room to grow.
They will require deep, fertile, well-drained mildly acidic soil. They thrive in sun or partial-shade but need protection from strong or salty winds.
Specimen, ornamental, shade, fragrance, interesting foliage. Summer interest.
