Very hardy Aloe (actually correct name is now Aloiampelos striatula) provided it has fast drainage. These are well-rooted cuttings with a year's worth of growth.
Aloe striatula (Hardy Aloe). This is a bushy aloe with succulent tapered leaves which curve downwards. The leaf sheaths are distinctly striped green. The yellow, tabular flowers with protruding orange stamens are held in spikes up to 40cms high.
This plant needs plenty of sharp drainage, either dug into the plot where it is to grow outside, or mixed into the potting mixture for growing under glass. Water sparingly in the winter. Choose a sheltered position, if growing outdoors.
