Paper birch, Canoe birch, White birch, Birch
Betula papyrifera (Paper birch). This is a popular birch. The bark is bright silver-white to light blue, and the branches will provide a welcome site in the winter. They will need ample water, and will not tolerate long periods of drought. The leaves are about 10cms long and will turn yellow in the autumn.
They are fully hardy. You will need to plant in a sunny position in any moist and well drained soil; some species will prefer acidic soil. The young trees should be transplanted in the autumn.
