This grower is sure of this plant identification.

This is a beautiful, large specimen tree that has deep purple foliage all summer and bronze autumn colour with the dead leaves staying on the plants, sometimes until late spring. It also makes a good, dense hedge.

Supplied bare root - not in containers.
Size: Bundles of 25 bare root plants, (approx 30 - 50 cm tall).
Available from November to February.

Fagus sylvatica var. purpurea (Beech). A deciduous, round headed tree bearing oval, purple leaves with wavy edges. In autumn, leaves turn rich purplish-brown.


They will grow poorly under prolonged drought.

Specimen, hedging, raw materials. Suitable for coastal conditions. Bronze coloured autumn foliage.
