A large evergreen conifer, Pinus sylvestris is a popular tree with steel blueish-green needles and distinctive orange patches of bark on the main trunk when mature. A tough, hardy tree this pine is very good on sites with poor soil and is ideal for use in shelter belts, windbreaks and woodland planting.
Supplied bare root - not in containers.
Size: bundles of 50 bare root plants, (approx 15 - 25 cm tall).
Available late November to February.

Pinus sylvestris (Scots pine). This is a scotch pine the needles are about 2-3 inches long and blue-green. The cones are 2 inches long. They are very hardy and will not grow in desert areas. They will turn red-brown in a cold winter, but will usually recover.
They will grow in a wide range of conditions, they are wind resistant and will thrive on soils of moderate to low fertility which are well drained.
Specimen bark. Year-round interest. Suitable for coastal conditions.
