An eye-catching maple, Acer campbellii looks similar to the Japanese maple with large, palmate, dark green leaves which turn vivid orange or red in autumn. Established plants can have very distinctive leaves, sometimes up to 15-20cm in diameter.

It is is hardy but generally grows best in warm gardens, with sun or light shade and where sheltered from strong winds.
