Acer palmatum ‘Bloodgood’ (Japanese maple). A popular variety which has a broad-bushy habit. Its leaves are 5-lobed and burgundy in the summer, and turn a bright red in the autumn. Red-purple flowers in the spring transform into red winged fruits in the autumn.
It will prefer warmer climates than most other maples. It will need shade and shelter or the leaves may shrivel.
