A dainty maple with eye-catching spring foliage, Acer palmatum 'Butterfly' has fine, light green leaves edged with pink and white variegation. The leaves turn shades of orange and red in autumn.
Acer palmatum 'Butterfly' is fairly slow growing and grows best in light, dappled or partial shade, as the leaves can scorch in summer full sun.

Japanese maple, Maple
Acer palmatum ‘Butterfly’ (Japanese maple). This variety is an upright deciduous small tree or shrub with leaves which are 5-lobed, doubly serrate and grey-green edged with wavy margins of cream-white to pale pink. Autumn turns the foliage deeper pinks and reds.
To avoid leaf scorch, plant in a semi-shaded position, and make sure it doesn't dry out in the summer, especially if planting in a pot.
