This grower is sure of this plant identification.

An unusual and handsome maple with deeply divided, dark purple leaves which turn crimson-red in the autumn before falling and a graceful, slightly weeping habit.

Acer palmatum 'Sherwood Flame' grows to be a large branching shrub, spreading once established. Excellent choice for a mixed border and can be grown successfully in a large container.

Description

Acer palmatum ‘Sherwood Flame’. This plant was selected by Will Curtis of Sherwood, Oregon from a seedling of 'Burgundy Lace'. It has deeply serrated burgundy to red leaves, turning deep red in autumn and a slightly weeping habit.
