Evergreen rosettes of linear grey-green leaves have at their centre in the summer violet blue flowers, at which point the inner leaves turn bright red! May take time to settle before flowering. Needs sun and very well drained soil. To 3 feet.

Plant Finder: about Fascicularia bicolor

Description

Fascicularia bicolor. A beautiful, vigorous bromeliad native to Chile-striking when in full-flower. Has compact rosettes of narrow, grey-green serrated leaves. The inner leaves turn a striking red in autumn. The flowers are borne in dense corymbs in summer.

Cultivation

They are half hardy and will prefer full light and any well drained soil is suitable. You will need to water moderately from the spring to the autumn and sparingly in winter.
