Lovely small tree suited for gardens with limited space, Amelanchier lamarckii 'Ballerina' has a superb display of white flowers in spring. The leaves are an attractive, cool green in spring / summer, turning shades of bright red, orange and gold in the autumn before falling.

An excellent standalone specimen tree or as part of a mixed flowering border.

Description

Amelanchier lamarckii ‘Ballerina’ (Snowy mespilus). Amelanchier lamarckii ‘Ballerina’ is a small tree with an open habit. Its young leaves are bronze-tinged and later turn orange and red in the autumn. Large white flowers are produced in short, erect racemes in spring. The fruit are reddish purple berries which are very attractive to birds.

Cultivation

It prefers lime-free soil.
