This grower is sure of this plant identification.

Chaenomeles superba 'Pink Lady' has masses of bright pink flowers in March and April. These are followed later in the year by small, green fruit. Leaves are dark green, sometimes turning shades of yellow and bronze before falling in autumn.

Although it will grow in some shade, this variety will flower best in a warm sunny position and can be trained to grow agains walls or fences.

Chaenomeles × superba ‘Pink Lady’ (Ornamental Quince). This Flowering Quince has large, bright pink flowers with golden centres in spring, and glossy dark green leaves which turn yellow and brown in autumn before falling. The edible fruit turns yellow and fragrant as it ripens.

Cultivation

Prefers a sunny, sheltered position.

Interest and use

Often trained to walls and fences, this plant is mainly grown for its attractive spring flowers. Good for bees.
