A large deciduous shrub, Cotinus coggygria 'Flame' has dark green leaves which turn stunning shades of bright orange, red and yellow in autumn before falling. In the summer large panicles of smoke-like dark pink flowers appear which stand out well against the green foliage.

Cotinus coggygria 'Flame' is a fairly unusual and excellent, hardy garden shrub for vivid autumn colour.

Soil: Fertile, well drained soil.
Hardiness: Hardy.
Flowering Period: June - July.
Rate of Growth: Moderate.
Habit: Cotinus coggygria 'Flame' grows to be a large rounded shrub (can be pruned if required).
Height: up to 4 m (13 ft)
Spread: 3 m (10 ft).

Pruning: In smaller gardens, Cotinus coggygria 'Flame' can be pruned back hard in March each year to encourage fresh new growth and reduce the end size.
