An uncommon weeping shrub, Cotoneaster astrophoros is evergreen and forms a compact mat, studded with white, star-like flowers in spring. These pretty flowers are followed by masses of beautiful, shiny red fruit in autumn.

Not the fastest growing Cotoneaster but good for trailing over the edge of a stone trough or container or growing over a low wall.

It has tiny, white, five-petaled, star-shaped flowers in spring followed by bright red berries. This plant was formerly known as C. microphylla Teulon Porter’


They are fully to frost hardy and will prefer full sun, but the evergreens will do well in either sun or semi-shade.

Interest and use

Use to stop erosion on banks and for cascading over stone walls. Grown for its habit, and for its attractive flowers and berries.
