A large, attractive indoor plant that I grew from a stem cutting rooted in a jar of water 26 years ago! Pest and trouble, free this cane stemmed "angel wing" begonia can reach 6 feet in height.
Begonia ‘Lucerna’ (Begonia). An evergreen, cane-stemmed, vigorous begonia. Grows oval, silver spotted, bronze-green leaves with tapered tips. Large panicles of single, deep red-pink flowers are produced the whole year -round, while male flowers remain almost closed.
Grow in light well-drained soil or loam-based potting compost. Water frequently in hot weather but do not allow the soil to become too moist. A balanced liquid fertiliser can be applied occasionally especially when in full growth. Pot on each spring. They prefer slightly acidic soil.
Grown for their colourful flowers and/or ornamental leaves.
