This grower is sure of this plant identification.

In a few years this tree like succulent takes on a "Bonsai-like" appearance (only easier to maintain!). May need potting into a large terracotta half pot/bowl as it gets top heavy. Smaller branches will need pruning to keep a more tree like form.

Description

Crassula arborescens (Silver jade plant). A branched shrub with thick brown stems from South Africa. Elliptic to obovate leaves are silvery. blue-grey and may be speckled with small dark green dots. Panicles of small, star-shaped pink-white flowers appear in autumn and winter. Needs minimal attention.

Cultivation

They are frost hardy to frost tender, min 5-7C. They will prefer full sun while others like partial shade. Grow them in very well drained soil with a little water in the winter. Most are easy to grow.
