This grower is sure of this plant identification.

Colourful tree originally native to N. America, Gleditsia triacanthos 'Sunburst' has beautiful, fern-like, golden leaves which retains their colour all summer. The golden foliage is particularly noticeable against a dark green background.

A low maintenance tree, it has an attractive mop-headed habit once established and is suitable for planting as a stand alone specimen or as part of a border.

Position: Full sun.
Soil: Well drained, fertile soil. Gleditsia triacanthos 'Sunburst' grows well in dry soils.
Hardiness: Hardy. Gleditsia triacanthos 'Sunburst' tolerates atmospheric pollution and grows well in urban environments.
Rate of Growth: Slow until established then moderate.
Habit: Small mop-headed tree.
Height: Eventually 8 m (26 ft) - 10 m (32 ft)
Spread: 8 m (26 ft)

Notes: A specimen of Gleditsia triacanthos 'Sunburst', planted in the woodland garden surrounding our nursery had reached a height of 4 m and a spread of 4 m after 14 years.
