Small shrub, hardy if drainage if very good. Covered in creamy flowers from May to at least the end of October. Grows to up to 50cm. Cut back the first week of April, and if desired, the first week of July. Bees love it

Description

Salvia microphylla ‘Trelissick’ (Sage). This is a small-leafed rounded shrub. It produces bright green rounded leaves and a mass of scarlet flowers from late spring to early winter.

Cultivation

Some species will tolerate only light frosts, but some of the perennials are more frost-hardy. They will grow well when planted in full sun in well drained light soil with adequate watering in the summer.

Interest and use

Grown for their tubular, 2-lipped, often brightly coloured flowers and aromatic foliage. Leaves of some species may be used for flavouring foods. Suitable for coastal conditions.
