Do you love winter Jasmine, and wish you could have it in summer as well? Fret not! Now you can! This is Summer Jasmine (hurtfully known as Common Jasmine) which is a shrubby, evergreen version of the familiar winter Jasmine: it doesn't climb as such, but by careful tyeing in, it can achieve 6' or more in height. The leaves are a nice, dark, green and the flowers are bright yellow, appearing through the summer.

Grower Notes

Sunny position preferred: if unsupported, will make a rounded dome. Once established, they are quite drought-tolerant, if you keep them well watered until they are settled.

Common names

Jasminum genus (Jasmine). There are about 200 deciduous, semi-evergreen and evergreen shrubs and vines. The leaves are usually compound with white or more rarely yellow fragrant flowers. They are fully hardy to frost tender, min 7-18C. They will require full sun and fertile, well drained soil.


J.nudiflorum, which is not self-supporting, benefits from having old shoots thinned out after flowering; prune others as required after flowering.

Grown for their often fragrant flowers and foliage. Suitable for coastal conditions.
