Rare, deciduous shrub with a low spreading habit, small sea-green leaves and fragrant lilac-pink flowers in May and June. Lonicera thibetica is very distinctive, native to parts of Western China and most suitable for a sunny garden position.

Lonicera thibetica. This is a rare lonicera shrub with lilac-pink, fragrant flowers and arching branches of dark green, lanceolate leaves.


They are fully hardy to frost tender, with a min of 5C. They are easily grown in sun or light shade, in any fertile, well drained soil. They will need regular pruning to keep them from becoming tangles. You can propagate from seeds in the autumn or spring or from cuttings in summer or late autumn. Prune out flowered wood of climbers after flowering. Prune shrubs only to remove dead shoots or restrain growth.

Grown for pretty flowers and as a specimen shrub.
