Common names



Colchicum agrippinum (Crocus). An easily grown upright stalked clump of about 15 cm in height native to Greece to S.W Turkey. Bears attractive star-shaped, checkered flowers in shades of purple and pink to 8 cm across in autumn. Tufts of lance-shaped to linear, broad leaves follow.


The are fully to frost hardy, and will need an open sunny situation with well drained soil. Plant at a depth of approximately 9cm.

Grown for their mainly goblet shaped blooms.
