A robust small tree, Malus 'Hillieri' has gorgeous slightly fragrant, pink, semi to double flowers in Spring. Small red/orange fruit are produced in late summer/autumn good for crab apple jelly. Leaves are dark green with red/orange tints in a good autumn before falling.

Although generally upright and pyramidal when young, Malus 'Hillieri' has a broad, rounded crown once established.

Description

Malus ‘Hillieri’ (Crab Apple ‘Hillieri’). This is a crab apple with fragrant, pink, semi-double to double flowers opening from dark purple buds. Mid green foliage is flecked with orange and red in the autumn. Fruits are orange-red.

Cultivation

They will prefer a cool, moist climate with full sun with fertile, well-drained, loamy soil, you must protect from strong winds. In winter, cut out dead or diseased wood and prune to maintain a balanced branch stem.
