Position: Full sun or partial shade.
Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
Flowering Period: May.
Flower Colour: Pale green
Rate of Growth: Slow to moderate.
Habit: Morus alba 'Pendula' grows to be a small, stiffly weeping tree.
Height: 2 - 5 m (6 - 16 ft). 2 m if grown without training. Up to 5 m if trained up a tall support.
Spread: 2 - 2.5 m (6 - 8 ft).
Notes: The photos above show a plant in our gardens which we have trained up a series of large bamboo canes to a height of 400 cm. Once at this height, the canes were removed and this has created a marvellous 'fountain' effect as the branches weep down.
Morus alba 'Pendula' is best grow surrounded by mown or short grass, which cushions the fall of the fruit and also makes them easy to spot when harvesting. This plant is self-fertile.
