An attractive small tree, Prunus sargentii 'Charles Sargent' is a selection with particularly good autumn colour, the dark green leaves turning vivid shades of orange before falling in autumn.

Masses of pink flowers cover the branches in spring and established trees develop shiny, mahogany coloured bark in time.

Prunus sargentii ‘Charles Sargent’ (Sargent's Cherry 'Charles Sargent'). This is an ornamental cherry with mid pink flowers, which form at the same time as the coppery new leaf buds in spring. Dark-green leaves turn bright shades of red and orange in the autumn. Summer fruits are bright red.


You should plant in moist, well-drained soil in full sun, remember to protection from strong winds. Trim deciduous hedges after flowering, evergreen ones in early or mid-spring.
