A new introduction to the United Kingdom from Holland, this rare oak grows to be a cone shaped, small tree with fiery red and orange autumn colours. It is a larger tree then both Quercus palustris 'Swamp Pygmy' and Quercus palustris 'Green dwarf' and tends towards a dense, bushy habit.

Quercus palustris 'Isabel' is a very attractive and small ornamental tree with glowing autumn colours!

Position: Full sun or light, dappled shade.
Soil: Moist yet well drained, fertile soil. Quercus palustris 'Isabel' grows well in most areas but will produce its most vivid autumn colour in lime free or acidic soils.
Hardiness: Hardy.

Habit: Quercus palustris 'Isabel' is a very small tree with a densely branching, rounded crown.

Description

Quercus palustris ‘Isabel’ (Dwarf Pin Oak). This is a dwarf oak with deeply lobed, shiny green leaves, which turn an array of shades from orange to crimson in the autumn.

Cultivation

This tree shows its brightest colours in lime-free soil, although can tolerate neutral soil, as long as it is well drained and fertile.

Grown for it's foliage and dwarfing habit.
