Description

Prunus genus (Cherry). This is a large genus; there are many shrubby species but most are trees. Many species are deciduous and will bloom in the spring; they produce scented 5-petalled, pink or white flowers. The leaves are simple with serrated edges.

Cultivation

You should plant in moist, well-drained soil in full sun, remember to protection from strong winds. Trim deciduous hedges after flowering, evergreen ones in early or mid-spring.

Interest and use

They are grown mainly for their single, 5 petalled, to double flowers and autumn colour. Suitable for coastal conditions.
