Description

Canna genus (Indian shot plant). This genus consists of robust showy, rhizomatous perennials, which are grown for their striking flowers and ornamental foliage. It is generally used for summer-bedding displays and container growing.

Cultivation

They are frost tender, min 10-15C and will require a warm, sunny position and humus-rich moist soil. If grown under glass or for summer bedding, encourage into growth in spring at 16C and store rhizomes in slightly damp soil or peat in winter.

Interest and use

Grown for their striking flowers and ornamental foliage. They are generally used for summer-bedding displays and container growing. Suitable for coastal conditions. Attracts humming birds in suitable geographical locations.

    I would be interested to swap unusual things like shrubs, perennials etc to increase the plant stock in the garden for cuttings. Do love holly, and would love some variegated types in my garden. I keep doing cuttings, but have had not too much success.
