A rare cultivar, Styrax japonica 'Pink Chimes' has bell-shaped, pale-pink, pendant flowers with yellow stamens in mid summer. Lovely, reliable small tree with masses of flower and an established specimen in our gardens attracts many admiring glances each year.

Soil: Moist, fertile, lime free soil.
Hardiness: Reasonably hardy. Styrax japonica 'Pink Chimes' requires shelter from cold winter winds.

Description

Styrax japonica ‘Pink Chimes’. This is a small flowering tree, which is grown for its profuse and fragrant flowers. The flowers are bell-shaped and hang downwards from the branches. The leaves are an attractive deep green.

Cultivation

This tree will grow well in warm and humid areas, but will require some afternoon shade from the intense heat and sun. They will prefer moist, well-drained soil.
