Tilia tomentosa ‘Petiolaris’

For sale by Bluebell Nursery

This grower is sure of this plant identification.

A beautiful tree, Tilia tomentosa 'Petiolaris' has large dark green leaves with silver felt undersides which create a pleasant effect when ruffled in a breeze.

The branches arch gracefully downwards once established and in summer are masses of strongly scented flowers which are narcotic to bees.

This tree is best given plenty of space so the attractive domed habit can develop.

Supplied Size: 5L containers (80 - 100 cm tall)

Tilia tomentosa ‘Petiolaris’ (Weeping Silver Lime). This is a vigorous and elegant large lime with pendulous branches bearing heart-shaped dark green leaves which have silver undersides. Clusters of heavily fragranced yellow flowers attract bees, but unfortunately the nectar is toxic to them.
