Plant Finder: about the Albuca genus

Common names

Slime Lilies

Albuca genus (Slime Lilies). This is a genus of between 60 and 180 species (which is in dispute) of perennial, clumping, bulbous plants with linear or strap-shaped, bright green leaves which are usually fleshy and sappy, giving the plants their common name. In the summer, white to pale yellow flowers are produced in spikes.

They are half hardy to frost tender with a min of 10C. You will need to give them an open sunny position with well drained soil. It will die down in the spring or late summer after flowering.
