This grower is fairly sure of this plant identification.

These are definitely spotted laurel, but not sure they are February Star! I have 10 of them, varying somewhat in colour and size (between 30 - 75 cm high). They can be bought as a group or individually. Aucuba japonica are very hardy, and brilliant plants for difficult areas, including shade -

Aucuba japonica ‘February Star’ (Spotted Laurel). This is an evergreen shrub with glossy spotted leaves and yellow markings that is happiest in shade, where its colouring can also be set off to greatest effect. Red berries are produced in winter.


Prefers moist semi-shade.
