An attractive climber, Clematis 'Mrs Cholmondeley' has a pretty display of large lavender-blue flowers in early summer and sometimes again in autumn.

Clematis 'Mrs Cholmondeley' is an excellent climber for many positions but is particularly suitable for growing up trellis or wires against a sunny wall or fence.

Description

Clematis ‘Mrs Cholmondeley’ (Clematis). This is a large-flowered hybrid which is very easy to grow, They will open in the early summer with 6 to 7 petals which are widely spaced and tapering to the base; they are light to lavender blue and paler along the midribs. It will reach 5m in height.

Cultivation

They are fully to half hardy. They will require a rich soil that is kept moist, but it is well drained. They should be grown in full sun, but the roots will require shade and protection from too much heat.

Interest and use

Grown for their mass of flowers, which can be grown on trellises and walls. Suitable for coastal conditions.
