A colourful climber, Clematis x 'Nelly Moser' is covered with large white/pale mauve-pink flowers with a vivid carmine bar in summer and early autumn.

Clematis x 'Nelly Moser' is an excellent climber for many positions but is particularly suitable for growing up trellis against a sunny wall or fence.

Grower Notes

Position: Full sun or partial shade.
Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
Hardiness: Hardy.
Flowering Period: July - September.
Flower Colour: White.
Rate of Growth: Moderate.
Habit: Small to medium sized, scrambling Clematis.
Height: up to 3 m (10 ft) - 4 m (13 ft)
Spread: 1.5 m (5 ft)

Pruning: Remove any damaged stems in late winter or early spring and cut remaining stems back to just above the highest pair of strong buds.

Clematis ‘Nelly Moser’ (Clematis). This variety is a vigorous climber, which will produce beautiful flowers. It will grow in a partly shaded position that will receive morning sun. It will reach up to 4.5m and is very frost hardy.


They are fully to half hardy. They will require a rich soil that is kept moist, but it is well drained. They should be grown in full sun, but the roots will require shade and protection from too much heat.

Interest and use

You can delay the flowering by pruning hard in early spring, to make a bigger autumn crop. Spring/Summer interest.
