Popular and elegant climbing plant with attractive green foliage and large mauve-lilac, fragrant and trailing flower racemes up to 80cm long. A popular plant for training along wires or up trellis against a sunny house wall or fence and Wisteria floribunda 'Macrobotrys' is also extremely attractive when grown through established trees or shrubs!

Description

Wisteria floribunda ‘Macrobotrys’ (Japanese wisteria). A deciduous, twining climber with green leaves divided into oval leaflets, and racemes of fragrant, pea-like, pink-purple flowers with darker marks, appearing in early summer. This plant may bear oblong pods in late summer and early autumn.

Cultivation

They will prefer a sunny position with humus-rich, well-drained soil. You should prune after the flowering.
