Plant Finder: about Iris sibirica

Common names

Siberian iris

Description

Iris sibirica (Siberian iris). This species is easy to grow. It will produce a large range of colours, heights and blooming times. They will prefer to be grown in a moist well drained soil that is moderately rich; they will thrive in full sun or partial shade.

Cultivation

They are fully hardy, but some groups may thrive only in specific growing conditions. All irises are best planted in late summer and early autumn. Outdoors you can grow them in well drained, fertile, neutral or slightly acid or alkaline soil in full sun to lightly dappled shade. In order for irises to thrive, most of them need long, hot summers. Irises that require protection from rain or frost should be grown under glass.

Interest and use

Ornamental, bog, aquatic, erosion control, cutting bed. Summer interest.

Unusual varieties of hostas. I have about 500 different varieties and am looking for more. Can offer about 1/3rd of these to swap (hosta for hosta), most of which are listed.
Also named varieties of Agapanthus (I have 4 varieties to swap)
Will sell plants as well if requested although not set up to post (other than for hostas sent bare-rooted) so buyer will need to collect.
