Description

Lonicera involucrata (Honeysuckle). This is a dense, bushy, deciduous shrub, with stout shoots and paired, bright mid-green leaves. It bears dark yellow, often red-suffuse flowers, in pairs from the leaf axils in late spring. They are surrounded by large green bracts that soon turn red, and are followed by glossy black berries.

Cultivation

Can tolerate strong winds but not maritime exposure

Interest and use

Attracts humming birds in suitable geographical locations.
