Lobelia erinus ‘Crystal Palace’ (Bedding lobelia). This has lance-shaped, dark green leaves with small, dark blue flowers growing continuously in summer and early autumn.
These frost-hardy to somewhat frost-tender plants are best grown in well-drained, moist, light loam enriched with animal manure or compost. Most grow in sun or part-shade but resent wet conditions in winter. Prune after the first flush of flowers to encourage repeat flowering, and fertilize weekly with a liquid manure during the season. Propagate annuals from seed in spring, perennial species from seed or by division in spring or autumn and perennial cultivars by division only. Transplant from late autumn until early spring.
