Sage, Purple sage
Salvia officinalis ‘Purpurascens’ (Sage). This evergreen or semi-evergreen, bushy shrub has obovate, grey-green leaves which are used as a culinary herb. Blue-purple flowers are produced in racemes, in early summer to late summer.
Some species will tolerate only light frosts, but some of the perennials are more frost-hardy. They will grow well when planted in full sun in well drained light soil with adequate watering in the summer.
