This is the giant variety of E. ventricosum, I grew it from seed from jungleseeds.co.uk. Can be outside in summer, if you prune and bring it indoors for the winter. It is around 6 months old now, to give an idea of growth rate. I also have smaller plants to swap.
Ensete genus. This genus consists of evergreen perennials. The leaves are large, spoon-shaped or spathulate and green they resemble banana-tree leaves. The flowers are cup-shaped. They are frost tender, min 5C and will grow in a sunny position or partial shade with humus-rich soil. Propagation is by seeds in the spring or by division all-year-round.
Grown for their foliage (which resembles that of bananas) and fruits.
