Wisteria, Chinese wisteria
Wisteria chinensis (Wisteria). This species is a twining climber with pinnate leaves divided into 7-13 elliptic-ovate leaflets. There are fragrant, pea-like, blue-white flowers borne in pendent racemes, in late spring and early summer, followed by bean-like velvety green seed pods.
They will prefer a sunny position with humus-rich, well-drained soil. You should prune after the flowering.
Grown for their spectacular flowers and suitable for walls, pergolas and for growing against buildings and through trees. Attracts butterflies.
