Coral-red flowers, hardy in well drained soil
Freesia laxa. This species is native to South Africa and has narrow basal leaves. The flowers are tubular to star-shaped and red in colour. They will bloom in the spring. The flowers have tubes which are more than twice the length of the tepals.
Also known as Anomatheca laxa, Anomatheca cruenta and Lapeirousia laxa.
Frost hardy. Plant 5cm deep in an open, sunny situation and in well drained soil. In cold areas, lift corms and store dry for winter.
