Clematis Rhederiana is a very unusual nodding species of sweetly scented clematis that looks a bit like cowslip or a yellow bluebell. If you’re looking for something a little different that not many people own this is the one. Awarded The ‘Award of Garden Merit’ by the RHS in 1993.
Clematis rehderiana (Jo's favourite). A deciduous climber native to Western China. Mid green leaves are lance-shaped to ovate. Single fragrant flowers are yellow and born in mid summer to late autumn. Grows to a height of 9m.
They are fully to half hardy. They will require a rich soil that is kept moist, but it is well drained. They should be grown in full sun, but the roots will require shade and protection from too much heat.
