A popular graceful perennial plant. Many arched sprays of heart shaped white flowers are produced from April until June. Also known as White Bleeding Heart, the Royal Horticultural Society has given it the Award of Garden Merit for its reliable performance, stability of colour and form and good resistance to pests and diseases. Likes to be grown sheltered and in partial shade in although will tolerate sun if the soil is moist. Height 60-70cm

Dicentra spectabilis ‘Alba’ (White bleeding heart). Arching sprays of heart-shaped, pure white flowers appear in late spring and mid-summer, with deeply cut, light green fern-like foliage.
It is short-lived in mild climates and the foliage will die back by midsummer. You will need to grow in humus-rich, moist but well drained soil.
