Weigela ‘Bristol Ruby’ (Weigela). This variety is an upright hybrid it is grown for the profusion of crimson flowers from late spring to the early summer. It will grow to 1.8m tall with slender arching branches and dark green oval leaves.
They are fully to frost hardy, they will prefer full sun or light shade in moist, fertile, well-drained soil. To maintain vigour, prune out a few older branches to ground level, after flowering each year. Straggly, old plants may be pruned hard in spring (though this will lose one season's flowers).
