Description

Foeniculum vulgare (Fennel). This is a hardy annual, perennial which is usually grown as an annual, The fennel is a large showy plant with lots of culinary uses and ornamental value. The mature bulbs are used in cooking, or as a vegetable for baking in a casserole. The foliage is feathery and fragrant, with a liquorice scent and flavour. The mature bulbs are used in Italian cuisine or as a vegetable used for baking.

Cultivation

Harvesting may start in late summer and may end in mid autumn.

Interest and use

It has a fragrance and it can be used for foliage or for ornamental used but it is also used as a vegetable. Suitable for coastal conditions. Attracts butterflies
