Chocolate brown stems, yellow splashed evergreen leaves, tiny yellow flowers followed by red berries.
Corokia genus. This small genus has about 3 species of evergreen shrubs. They are usually large and angular. The flowers are star-shaped, with small yellow blooms which are followed by colourful berries. They will grow well in mild coastal areas, where it is very wind tolerant. They are frost to half hardy; in cold areas you will need to protect from strong winds. Give them full sun and fertile well drained soil. You can propagate by softwood cuttings in the summer.
Grown for their habit, foliage, flowers and fruits. Suitable for coastal conditions.
